Lab 2
1. What did you learn this week?
This week during class, we furthered out knowledge on the components that determine if something is living or nonliving. We discussed the eight different components and talked through with peers what some examples of this would look like. Additionally, we were able to model our own plants by placing seeds, cotton balls, and water into a cup. We will now be able to see what happens to the seeds and the process that will ultimately take place.
2. Are you able to relate what you learned to what you already knew?
This week I was able to relate some existing knowledge that I had to some of the content we spoke about during our class time. Through my past science classes, I knew some of the things that determined if something was living or not. This week this understanding was pushed even farther, because I was introduced to some newer ideas. Additionally, it was helpful to once again speak about the NGSS, because it expanded what I already knew about them.
3. Which parts did you find clear and which were confusing?
The parts that I found clear this past week were definitely the eight components of living things. I think this was because I have had an understanding of these things for all my years in science so far. It is also clear to think about these things, because I can easily relate all of them to myself, so it is a very easy way to put everything into perspective. I was initially confused about the parts of the bean that we dissected, but was able to decipher them after asking questions and thinking critically.

Hi Gabriella! I like all of your diagrams on the anchor chart and how you decided on how to illustrate them all. Great job asking questions in class and thinking critically about what you were confused about before.
ReplyDeleteHi Gabriella!
ReplyDeleteI also easily remember the 8 characteristics of living things by relating them to myself because it just makes the most sense! I'm interested to see how much our plants will change and grow throughout our lessons considering that we did plant them with cotton balls.
